Half Day Working at Height, including Safe use of Ladders and Step Ladders

Course Aim: This course has been developed to provide candidates with a thorough understanding of working at heights, safety requirements and an introduction to the range of safe working methods.  It will also provide candidates with the hazards and safe systems of work associated with ladders and step ladders.

Who Should Attend: This course has been designed for those persons that work at height or have a management responsibility for the safe working at height.  The practical session is particularly suitable for experienced users of ladders that require formal training to comply with regulations.

Course Content:

  • Legislation relating to working at height
  • Working at height regulations 2005
  • Associated regulations including HASWA 1974 and PUWER 1998
  • Planning working at height, including risk assessments
  • Competence for planning and working at height
  • Selection of appropriate equipment
  • Inspection & maintenance of work equipment
  • Specific hazards associated with the use of ladders and step ladders
  • Practical alternatives to ladders and step ladders


If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session, then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.

Certification: A certificate of competence will be issued to all candidates on the successful completion of the course.

Numbers: A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 students can be accommodated on this course.

Location: We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or we can source a suitable location if necessary.
