HSE Approved 2 Day First Aid at Work Course

It is a requirement of the Health & Safety Law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees.  This comprehensive 2-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.  In addition to this, should there have been any change to protocols during their initial qualification, then this will be updated.

This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Duration: A minimum of 12 hours spread over at least 2 days.  Ideally, the course should be run over 2 consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire.

A range of subjects is covered including:

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Resuscitation
  • Choking
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Bandaging
  • Shock
  • Control of bleeding
  • Eye injuries
  • Fractures
  • Head injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Strains
  • Burns

If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session, then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.

Certification: Subject to assessment, all participants will be issued with a First Aid at Work certificate (and wallet card) approved by the Health and Safety Executive.  This qualification is valid for three years which can be renewed by attending a suitable Two-Day re-qualification course.  The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders attend an annual refresher programme of a minimum three hours duration.

Numbers: A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and each participant must be aged a minimum of 14 years or above.

Assessment: All students will be assessed by independent assessors on their ability to act safely, promptly and effectively for a casualty who is unresponsive, requires CPR and who is wounded and bleeding.

Location: We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or we can source a suitable location if necessary.
